DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – The UAE-based airline flydubai has expanded its flight offerings to Italy in response to growing international travel demand. According to official statements from Emirates News Agency, flydubai is enhancing its presence in Italy by adding more flights between key commercial hubs. From July 31, 2026, the airline will operate double daily flights from Dubai to Milan-Bergamo, while maintaining its daily service to Naples with round-trip flights.

Airline management teams allocate commercial fleet capacity to high demand travel markets.

This new schedule broadens flydubai’s overall operational footprint in Italy, which already includes three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and seasonal summer services to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia twice a week, which will continue through the end of August. Additionally, the airline has outlined operational adjustments due to scheduled infrastructure work in Southern Italy. Specifically, from November 1 to November 30, 2026, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily Dubai to Naples service via Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport because of maintenance at Naples International Airport. Regular flights to Naples are expected to resume on December 1, 2026, with current bookings automatically transferred to the Salerno route during the transition period.

Codeshare Alliance Enhances Passenger Connectivity Through Dubai Hub

The expanded routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples operate under the established codeshare partnership between flydubai and Emirates, the international flag carrier. This cooperation allows travelers to book integrated itineraries, purchase single tickets, synchronize flight schedules, and enjoy through-checked baggage across both networks. Utilizing the combined network through Dubai’s central hub, passengers connecting from Italian airports can easily access long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct flights to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.

This capacity expansion aligns with broader trends in commercial aviation within the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger numbers have steadily increased following the pandemic. The additional flights support growing bilateral trade, investment, and leisure tourism between the United Arab Emirates and Italy. The double daily services to Milan-Bergamo provide greater capacity for business travelers heading to Italy’s financial and industrial heartland, while daily flights to southern Italy cater to seasonal tourism demand for visitors exploring cultural landmarks along the Amalfi Coast.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, commented on the network expansion, stating that Naples and Milan have become key gateway cities within the airline’s European route network. He emphasized that maintaining consistent regional access for travelers remains a priority, alongside a long-term commitment to improving connectivity to underserved markets. Al Ghaith added that market data demonstrate flydubai’s strategic growth in Italy through increased flight frequencies, supporting the rising passenger flows between the UAE and Italy, particularly as travel volumes accelerate during the winter season.

Regional Airports as Strategic Entry Points for Travelers

Jeyhun Efendi, flydubai’s Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce, highlighted that boosting direct flights to Naples and Milan-Bergamo underlines the importance of the Italian market for the airline. He explained that non-stop flights enable passengers to leverage the combined reach of flydubai and Emirates to access various global destinations seamlessly through Dubai. The airline’s commercial team confirmed that fleet deployment and operational preparations are in place to support the increased daily flights, ensuring high service reliability for both passenger and cargo operations.

These operational enhancements in Italy are part of flydubai’s broader fleet expansion and international network development plan. As the airline continues to take delivery of modern narrow-body aircraft, it aims to further increase frequencies on high-demand European routes. The new Italian flight schedule reinforces Dubai’s role as a major global aviation hub, facilitating smooth passenger and freight movements between Europe and expanding destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
